Bord Bia and the Taste Council to build a database of small food producers

Bord Bia – The Irish Food Board on behalf of the Taste Council has embarked on a project to build a database of small food producers around Ireland.

The TASTE Council is deeply involved with having a continual conversation with the Small Food Producer, but we always need to make sure that all are involved. It is with this in mind and with the help of Bord Bia that we have embarked on a project that we hope will ensure that we are reaching out to all. The purpose of gathering this information is:

  • To quantify this area of the food and drink industry
  • To provide ongoing information regarding this industry
  • The Taste Council is considering broadening its membership to represent the industry. Having more detailed information about you the producers will enable the TASTE Council to better represent this vital sector.

About the Taste Council:

The TASTE Council is a voluntary representative group of the smaller food business sector made up largely of local, artisan and speciality food producers and formally established in October 2003.

The members of the TASTE Council work in a voluntary capacity to address issues that affect the speciality foods sector and to provide national and international expertise to enable the Irish speciality food sector to maximise its potential contribution to Ireland’s economy, environment, culture and society.
