Soil Sampling and Analysis Programme – Call for New Applicants

Soil Sampling and Analysis Programme – Call for New Applicants

The Department for Agriculture, Food and the Marine has launched a call for applicants to the second phase of its Soil Sampling and Analysis Programme. Applications can be made via AgFood.ie up until 30th October 2023 at midnight. The second phase of the programme seeks to provide farmers and their advisors with comprehensive details on the following:

  • Macro- and micronutrients for agronomic advice and water quality risk assessment to improve soil and nutrient management decisions
  • Indicative Soil carbon results for the sampled area to better understand soil health and impact on climate action
  • Farm-level E. coli assessment to improve animal, human and environmental health strategies on farm

The Programme is open to all farmers, including organic farmers, who made a BISS application in 2023 and have not participated in the pilot Soil Sampling and Analysis Programme or the Soil Sampling option under the Eco-Scheme in 2023.  Applications will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis. Each sample is taken up to a maximum of 5 hectares and is limited to 16 samples on each farm. Farmers must give the samplers access to their fields and will be provided with results for their respective farms. Read more about the Programme, including the full terms and conditions here.
